MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THE PROGRAM EARLY?
There are a few issues that prevent us from matriculating younger students.
1. Enrollment is limited to 4th grade.
2. Enrollment exceeds class size.
3. First choice of instrument selection is reserved for our 4th graders.
3. Scheduling between grades is different causing pullout issues for younger students.
4. The comfort level of our 4th grade students may be affected when there is a younger student in the same lesson.
5. While it might seem as if one singular request should be easy to accommodate, there are 4 grade schools that participate in the program and often there are multiple requests. In fairness to all students we try to adhere to equitable standards for everyone.

MY CHILD ALREADY PLAYS AN INSTRUMENT AND STUDIES PRIVATELY, CAN't they just EASILY BE MATRICULATED INTO THE PROGRAM?
We're excited to have your child in the program when their in 4th grade, but there are few things that prioritize adding younger students.
1. For our beginners, having a younger student who is accelerated on the same instrument they are just learning may create a sense of insecurity.
2. The social aspect of two grade level affects the lessons.
3.A younger student who studies privately may be bored due to the initial slow pace of the lesson. The amount of material that can be covered in one lesson varies greatly when there is a group of students all learning the same material.
4. The younger student may be use to the "one to one" teacher to student ratio and may often require more attend that would be necessary.
5. The younger student may find the musical material "too easy". Often private teachers are more concerned with the amount of material covered rather than addressing the different musical aspects of the music being learned. As teachers having worked with thousands of students, we know that new students will find interesting what a teacher finds interesting. If a teacher focuses solely on content, then the young student may develop in the same manner, For the student, studying privately, it may create a conflict between the two different pedagogy directions.
6. There is a huge interest factor that causes students who have been accelerated beyond their physical limits to become bored or frustrated quickly. We try to be creative in the balance between ability, pedagogy, and physical requirements to play an instrument.

Certainly you can fit one more student into the program?
Surprisingly each year we have a few 4th grade students who do not actually get a chance to participate due to the number of enrollment entries. As teachers we are extremely fortunate to work in an environment where parents adhere to the value of a music education. There are also 4 grade schools that make up our beginner program and many times we have multiple inquires regarding early enrollment in all our schools. In fairness the all students, we would then have to be in agreement of all inquiries, which is exceeds our ability to teach the students who have enrolled in the program for the first time.
MY child would like to join band?
Great! Visit the "Future Members" tab for complete program information. Orchestra "strings" will need to contact Mr. Janossy for orchestra enrollment formation.
We missed the enrollment deadline? Is it too late?
Technically it may not be too late, but there are limitations. We would love to have your child participate but instrument choices will be limited to classes that are not exceeding enrollment numbers or classes that do not have students waiting for an opening. Please "email us" immediately so that we can help you child have a successful start alongside every other beginner. We want every child to start at the same time for the benefit of the student. Students who miss the first few lessons take much longer to catch up to the rest of the class.
My child would like to play the oboe or bassoon?
AWESOME! Due to the intricacy size (for bassoon),of the instruments we ask that students begin with either flute or clarinet as the basis for these instruments. Often times students switch to oboe or bassoon sometime during their 5th grade year. Once the student is on our "radar" we will be touching base with your to establish the best time for your child to make the switch to their preferred instrument. Switching will be a much easier and faster process once the student is already familiar with key sound fundamentals.
my child was not in band in 4th grade but would like to join in 5th grade? Is this possible?
A. The answer is no, yes, maybe? Unfortunately given the number of students in the program. 4th grade enrollment exceeds limitations. Since enrollment is only available in 4th grade, all available opportunities for those students take priority. That being said, we make every effort to accommodate students who would still like to participate, with a couple of caveats.
1. A student's instrument choice is limited to instrument sections in our 5th grade band that have not exceeded enrollment numbers.
2. Due to both class size and scheduling constraints between grades new students will begin with outside private lessons to be matriculated into the 5th grade program when ready. For a list of private teachers please view our "private lessons" page.

Question 1
Enrollment for band is limited to the 4th grade due to enrollment numbers exceeding program limitations. If your child would still like to participate we are limited to a few options. Participation would
